Patient Preparation for Laboratory Analyses

  • Laboratory samples are collected in the morning from 07:00 to 13:00, on an empty stomach after 12 to 14 hours of fasting.
  • For lipid profile testing (blood fats), the patient should follow a moderate diet for one week and fast for at least 16 hours before sample collection.
  • For a urine test, the first morning urine should be brought. After prior genital hygiene, collect the second stream of urine in a sterile container and deliver it to the laboratory as soon as possible.
  • For certain laboratory tests, the patient must call the laboratory in advance to receive preparation instructions, including:
    - OGTT (Oral Glucose Tolerance Test)
    - Hormones
    - Clearances and others

Before the test, it is necessary to follow a moderate diet for at least 7 days.

The test lasts for 2 hours, during which the patient must remain in the laboratory.
The patient must be fasting

 

HbA1C (Glycated Hemoglobin)

Fasting is not required.

 

Urine Testing (Sediment, Proteins, Sugar)

The second stream of the first morning urine should be collected, after personal hygiene.

It must be placed in a sterile container and delivered to the laboratory as soon as possible after urination.

 

Tests That Require Special Preparation (Hormones, Clearances, Vitamins, Immunological Tests)

For these tests, it is necessary to contact the laboratory in advance to receive detailed instructions.

Home Visit

For patients who are unable to come to the laboratory, sample collection can be performed at home. An appointment must be scheduled at least one day in advance.
